WEE Foundation Excellence Award
On 29 th March 2017, Ms. Ankita Gulati was honoured with the INR 5 lac grant by Department of Science and Technology(DST), Government of India. DST IIT Delhi WEE Selection Board also awarded the WEE Foundation Excellence Award to her.
National Award to Scientist(s) working on Improving Accessibility for the Disabled
On 2nd January 2016, Prof. M. Balakrishnan and Prof. PVM Rao were awarded the "National Award to Scientist(s) working on Improving Accessibility for the Disabled" by DST for the work on "Public bus accessibility for the visually impaired". The award was given away by the Hon’ble Prime Minister during the inaugural session of Indian Science Congress 2016 on at University of Mysore, Mysuru.
SmartCane receives national award from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
On 3rd December 2015, SmartCane has received the National Award from the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment under the category of "Best Applied Research/ Innovation/ Product Development Aimed at Improving the Life of Persons with Disabilities". The award was presented by the Finance Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley on 3rd December at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi. On this occasion, Saksham was also awarded as the best institution for providing inclusive education to the children and persons with disabilities.
The Manthan Awards
On 2nd December 2015, SmartCane received the Mathan Award. Manthan Award is a first of its kind initiative to discover, recognise and honour the BEST use of ICT and digital tools for developmental purposes. The Award is less about technology and digital media but more about the right use of digital and technological tools to empower people.
The NCPEDP - Mphasis Universal Design Awards 2015
On 14th August 2015, Prof. M. Balakrishnan was honoured with the NCPEDP - Mphasis Universal Design Awards in the category of working Professionals who work for the cause of accessibility and Universal Designs in any of the areas such as built environment, transport infrastructure, service provision, mobility & independent living aids or assistive technology.
MIT Technology Review 2015
Dr. Rohan Paul recognised by an editorial called MIT Technology Review among 35 innovators under 35 years of age for the innovation of SmartCane.

Ankit Kumar, Dhruv Gupta, Pulkit Sapra bagged the Padmashri Manmohan Suri Project Award for the best innovative hardware-oriented Major Project in Mechanical Engineering submitted during the session 2013-14

ICIM Stay Ahead Award 2014
Awarded to Harveen Kaur by IIT Delhi for the best project in the field of Computer Technology/ IT/ CAD/ CAM/ Robotics/ Automation submitted during the session 2013-2014.

BOSS Award 2014
Awarded to Harveen Kaur and Saurabh Runwal by IIT Delhi for the best hardcore experimental project in Electrical Engineering discipline submitted during the session 2013-2014.

TechTop 2014 Best Innovation Award - Winner RBC Team
Affordable Refreshable Braille Display project was awarded the TechTop 2014 Best Innovation Award at the 9th edition of the competition held at Trivandrum from 25th-26th July 2014. The award was presented by K Sivan, Director, Liquid Propulsion and Systems Centre (LPSC), ISRO.

JED-I Project Challenge 2014 - Runners Up (Electrical Division), Bangalore
Refreshable Braille Display project won 2nd prize in the electrical segment of the 4th JED-I Project Challenge held at Bangalore on 13th June 2014. The team comprising of Ankit Kumar Parsurampuria, Pulkit Sapra and Prof M Balakrishnan was awarded the trophy by India's legendary aerospace scientist Dr. Roddam Narasimha.
JED-I stands for the Joy of Engineering, Design, and Innovation. The Jed-i project challenge is an annual event designed to identify and showcase the best final year engineering project.

Louis Braille - Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation, National Braille Press, Boston
Pranay and Anshul, former students of IITD and part of Assistech Lab, received the 'Louis Braille - Touch of Genius Prize for Innovation' for the Braille Caliper. The prize is distributed by National Braille Press, in Boston.

Pan IIT Research Expo - Shaastra 2014, IIT Madras
Shaastra is the annual technical festival of IIT Madras which has been hosting the Research Expo for 3 years. This year's expo expanded to include all other IITs to host the largest Pan IIT Research Expo in the country. Ankit Kumar, Dhruv Gupta and Pulkit Sapra from IIT Delhi won the 1st prize for project Refreshable Braille Display.

TacRead has been awarded as a finalist in Indian Innovation Initiative - i3 2012 organised by Dept. of Science & Technology (DST) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), and was showcased in i3 National Fair held in New Delhi, India in Dec 2012. Pranay Jain and Anshul Singhal were awarded second position for TacRead in Young Indians (Yi) - Next Practices Award 2012, held in conjuction with i3 National Fair.

Pranay Jain and Anshul Singhal were awarded second position for TacRead in Mahindra Satyam Young Engineers Awards for Innovative Applications in Mechatronics held in Bangalore, India in June 2012. TacRead drew interest from eminent industry experts and leaders.
Design Competition in Rehabilitation and Assistive Devices
TacRead has been awarded as a finalist in Design Competition in Rehabilitation and Assistive Devices organised by ASME Bioengineering Division and National Science Foundation (NSF), USA held in Puerto Rico, USA in June 2012.

INNOVATIVE STUDENT PROJECTS AWARD (INAE), 2008
Awarded to the Student team comprising of Vaibhav Singh, Rohan Paul, Dheeraj Mehra and Ankush Garg received the following awards for the Smart Cane and Bus Identification System for the Visually Impaired.
The Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE), established in 1987, is a ‘Peer’ body of some of the most distinguished engineers in India and abroad. The objective INNOVATIVE STUDENT PROJECTS AWARD to identify innovative and creative research projects undertaken by the students and scholars in the engineering institutions, and to give an early recognition and incentives to them.

Technology Development and Initiation Award for students (TDP-IAS) by Industrial R&D unit at IIT Delhi.
